The book is very funny and quite clever; the simplest, clearest and most enjoyable gambling book for novices and regular players to learn from.

This book goes through game play, step by step and explains things about poker including how to make the best of your poker hand.

“Extra Stuff: Gambling Rambling” by Peter Griffin is a collection of articles explaining some of the fine points of the mathematics of gambling. Some of the mathematical information presented is a little advanced, but this book is packed with advice. This is definitely not for the mathematically faint-of-heart or the novice gambler.

“Finding the Edge” Edited by Olaf Vancura, Judy A. Collins, and William R. Eadington talks about the mathematical puzzles and challenges posed by games. There is a lot of information about blackjack, poker, and video poker and analyses of various gambling games and strategies. It is recommended that you have a strong background in math to get the most out of this book. The writing is very high calibre and lots of work went into this book. It’s not for the average player but for someone with an interest in both mathematics and gambling.

“Gambling 102” by Michael Shackleford (aka: The Wizard of Odds) gets right to the heart of the matter with great information on the most popular casino games. The author makes a big point of talking about the fact that these are games of chance, not necessarily skill. Also useful for the advanced gambler; the point of view and many charts help the gambler along while pursuing that big win!
