“Investing in College Basketball” by Larry Seidel contains a lot of solid descriptions of how to find and use information on basketball. It shows you strategies for the different parts of the season, why it’s better to specialize in a basketball conference and how to choose the right one, and some of the key ideas behind game analysis. A word of warning: the author’s approach to money management could be a recipe for disaster, so take this part of his advice with a very large grain of salt.

“Lem Banker's Book of Sports Betting” by Lem Banker and Frederick C. Klein is definitely a classic, and has been out of print for quite some time. If you can find this book, definitely snatch it up, if only for the fact that it is a classic. Written over 20 years ago, it contains no information about using computers or the internet to supplement your knowledge or crunch your data, but the advice contained in it is very sound. Mr. Banker advises hard work and research, and this advice will never change.

“Rascals and Racehorses-A Sporting Man's Life” by W. Cothran Campbell is a book filled with stories about the many colorful characters that the author has met during his lifetime in the horseracing business. Many of the stories will make you laugh out loud, and some of them will just make you think. For a book of stories about gambling characters, there are many that are great fun to read about. This book is light reading that doesn’t contain any advice or insight into how to bet on the races.

“Sports Betting - A Computer Expert's Winning Secrets for Betting on Baseball and Football” by Jim Jasper was published over 25 years ago, and much of the information it contains is still relevant today. If you can find a copy of this book online, you won’t be disappointed. Though some of the information about football is definitely behind the times, for the most part, the information in this book stands on its own. This is definitely a book to own if you’re into sports betting.
